The IES Victoria Kent is a state high school located in Fuenlabrada, a town on the outskirts of southern Madrid. The school is situated in a working class neighborhood whose population commutes to the city centre daily. The families of this urban area have a low socio-economic status and therefore most of them cannot afford overseas journeys nor have access to other cultural realities.
Our institution has been running for 26 years now and all along these years it has promoted the exchange with other countries and the involvement in overseas projects. Thus, this is our third international contribution to European projects, since we took part in the following Comenius projects:
- 2010-2012 “Friends of Pop-educational podcasting”
- 2012-2014 “Culture, climate and nature. The responsibility for our European Future”
Currently, our school offers GCE Advanced Levels in Humanities, Social Studies and Science, Vocational Studies Courses on the installation of heating and Air-conditioning systems and Gardening .
